Procter & Gamble is recalling two flavors of Pringles potato chips:

  • Pringles Restaurant Cravers Cheeseburger in the Super Stack canister (UPC Code 3700026936, Best By dates 02/2011 and 04/2011)
  • Pringles Family Faves Taco Night in the Super Stack canister (UPC Code 3700026773, Best By dates 03/2011, 04/2011 and 05/2011)

The recall is not just because these flavors sound disgusting. They also may have been contaminated with salmonella. Both flavors contain HVP (hydrolyzed vegetable protein), a seasoning made by Basic Food Flavors Inc., in which the FDA recently found traces of salmonella.

If you have any of the possibly contaminated chips, throw them away and call Procter & Gamble at 1-877-876-7881 for a replacement coupon or refund.

The FDA has compiled a list of 94 products that contain HVP, and therefore may have been affected by salmonella. Consult the FDA website for the full list of products containing HVP from Basic Foods.

Don’t worry, you can still use the Pringles can to piggyback on someone else’s wireless signal.
