Phil Harris, captain of the Cornelia Marie, which is featured on Deadliest Catch, is hospitalized in Alaska after suffering a stroke.
The Discovery Channel issued this statement:
Phil Harris suffered a stroke while in port off-loading from the F/V Cornelia Marie. He has been transported to a medical facility and is receiving the best care possible. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and we will make more information available as we know it.
Harris has been crab fishing on the Cornelia Marie for over 18 years. Let’s hope he gets in another 18.
Harris discusses an earlier near-death experience in this interview:

Stay strong brother! We love you and are praying for you.
I am huge deadliest catch viewer, disappointed to hear the news about Cptn. Phil. I wish him well and a speedy recovery.
Hang in there Phil!! You need to get healthy and back on the ship to keep Josh and Jake in line. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family both sea and land based.
My co-worker got me hook on the show these last two years and i think it is great. We both hope Phil is doing better. I know the area of which they go fishing as i was station out at shemya on the end of the alleution islands. I know the weather is very rough out there.
