Stuyvesant High SchoolMultiple news sources are now reporting that actress Natasha Richardson was taken off life support at 1:30pm EST and declared brain dead. The Tony-winning actress hit her head during a ski accident on Monday, but appeared to be fine and walked away from it. However, an hour later she began complaining of a headache and was hospitalized soon after. She was 45.

Richardson belongs to a royal family of film and theatre: Her husband is award-winning actor Liam Neeson, her father the late director Tony Richardson, her mother actress Vanessa Redgrave, her sister actress Joely Richarson, her aunt actress Lynn Redgrave… and there are many more actors on the family tree, including her grandparents.

Natasha made a name for herself through playing tough roles like Patty Hearst, Kate/Offred in The Handmaid’s Tale, and most recently, Blanche DuBois in the 2008 Broadway production of A Streetcar named Desire. She leaves behind two sons, Micheál Richard Antonio, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12, and millions of fans worldwide.

Watch Natasha discuss acting and family with Charlie Rose after winning a Tony award for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret:

What an incredibly beautiful girl inside and out. My gosh – how could this happen? So incredibly sad. I hope she wasn’t thinking it was as bad as it turned out to be and that the end was easy on her. All of our hearts go out to this magnificant girl’s family. Her boys so very young. Dear God be with them.

this is more than sad. I cannot believe that happened. My heart goes to Liam, Daniel and Michael. How lucky you were to have in your lifes such a wonderful and loveing wife and mother. She will be always with and in you. I pray that her wonderful memories will give you strenght and pride. For the Richardson’s and Redgrave’s I pray that God will give you peace. She had such an impact in all of us, how beautiful and talent she was. Irreplaceble Natasha, rest in peace.

To Liam, your sons and Natasha’s entire family, there is no greater loss than to lose someone who has your heart. I pray for your comfort and healing during what must be the most “lost” time of your lives. I didn’t know her well as an actress, but I would watch her in movies and observed how beautiful she was and how she seemed to have a deep heart for what she believed in. May the good Lord who created her, put rest and peace in your hearts. My thoughts and prayers are neverending.

It is just a sad day for the entire world yet another young beautiful person gone at such a young age. My prayers and support go to the Richardson family and her Husband. I had to let my father go in a similar fashion in 2006. It was the hardest thing that I ever had to do in my life. I know their grief all to well. Peace and prayers to you all.

I always been the type to totally enjoy life every single day cause we should live every single day like if it was our last. Natasha was a great actress an a beautiful human being. Have Linsay Lohan or Jennifer Lopez paid there respect to the family? She is in a better place may god take her in his beloved hands.

I too was shocked to hear she had passed! I thought someone was reporting something that they misread or heard but, I also know it doesn't take as much to damage your brain as we think. My boyfriends father died at 28 almost the same way he fell and walked into the house and sat down said he couldn't see and was gone by that night. My boyfriend was the oldest of four children. I know his mom says it was such a small fall , he had no blood loss anywhere outside his head nothing to prepare them for his sudden passing. We should educate ourselves on these things . We take life for granted!

My hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. The boys, whom seemed very close to there Mom will keep her memory alive in there hearts forever. She will always be there Mom, and she will always be looking down on them to protect and take care of them. May her family find comfort in the love they all felt for her, and continue to live out her legacy.

This situation is hard for me to comprehend. Natasha was an amazing actress and it is sad that the fans are left with the films she previosly made. I, for one, am crazy about the movie she made with Charlize Theron, Billy Bob Thorton, and Patrick Swayze. Although I love every movie she appeared in, this movie was my favorite. What made her a great actress was her true self that alays shined inside and out. You can clearly tell she had a heart of gold and the passion she had for her career and her family. She willy be missed but always remembered.

To her boys……know shes always with you….watching with pride and love everlasting, feel her presence and smile, with pride back at her. She was precious.

My family sympathies goes out to all of the family and friends. Natasha was a beautiful lady, and she will be a beautiful rose in god garden. The warmth of the sunshine will be like the hugges and kisses that she would be give to them, and after a soft gentle rain that gave off a rainbow with the brilliant colors will be her beautiful smile.

I recently saw the movie Taken with my son in law. I was again reminded of what a terrific actor Liam is. I also have seen Natashia in many movies as well as her mother in one of my all time favorites Camelot. In reality, I don't know these people but feel so devastated for them. Liam and his sons and family. I lost a sister to breast cancer at 41 and she left behind a husband and 3 children. I have cried thinking of their pain over and over again. My heart really aches for your family. Especially if she was your soul mate. This is so very hard to find. My heart aches for you and your boys. God bless you with time your hears will heal. Dear Natashia,

You will be missed. I saw you in the movie the White Countess and was taken by it. You are a beautiful woman and an incredible actress and look like such a nice person to have known. I am so sorry to learn what had happened and wish it never took place. May God be with you. May God heal the pain your husband and children feel. We all love you and will remember you, God Bless you.
