Ricky Gervais to Host Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais will be hosting the 67th Annual Golden Globes in January. The award show has not had a host since 1995.
Gervais is excited about the opportunity:
“Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry, which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host. I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don’t turn down.”
Winter/spring 2010 will also be when The Ricky Gervais Show will premiere on HBO. The new show will be an animated version of the top-downloaded podcast of the same name, featuring Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and idiot savant (sans savant) Karl Pilkington (see pic). It’s going to be awesome!
