watw We Are Still The WorldA multitude of music’s biggest stars got together to record a new version of “We Are the World” to benefit disaster relief in Haiti.

There are some old faces – Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, and Tony Bennett – and some very new ones that weren’t even born 25 years ago when the original song was released, like the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, and Miley Cyrus. And there are a lot of hip hop faces: Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dog, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, LL Cool J, and will.i.am. Also present were Carlos Santana, Josh Groban, and Brian Wilson and Al Jardine of the Beach Boys.

The song was originally written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie to raise money and awareness for starving children in Africa. Some lines were rewritten for the new version and some rapping was added to update the sound.

The single will be released soon and all proceeds will benefit the earthquake victims of Haiti. A video is also in the works. It will be in 3D and directed by Paul Haggis of Crash.
