LaDainian Tomlinson…Hmm

What do you do when an all-star franchise hero isn’t living up to the hype? LaDainian Tomlinson (LT), I’m speaking to you.
LT has been overrated and under performing all season. I’m not saying he’s bad…far from it. He is an outstanding running back (who just may have already peaked). He’s due a roster bonus of $2 million but the Chargers would save $4 million by simply cutting him. So the question is: what’s his contribution worth?
Tomlinson averaged 3.3 yards per carry this season, hardly worth his superstar contract. But was it really all his fault? Anyone who has been watching San Diego knows that their run blocking isn’t exactly up to par. So they could feasibly keep LT around and invest in a better offensive line…but is it worth it? Well, it would be if he agreed to take a pay cut, drop the ego and share the starting spot (or take a back up role). The Chargers have other backs with equally unimpressive stats like Darren Sproles and Michael Bennett. Or maybe LT could step up his game and take on more responsibility (ie special teams or kicking). Who knows what his future will be?
However, one thing is for sure. The one-time infallible LaDainian Tomlinson just isn’t getting the job done. My guess is that we won’t see his name on the San Diego Chargers roster next season.
