Matt Lauer Back on “Today” Today

Matt Lauer is back on air after his battle with a deer took him out and into an operating room last week. Lauer, 51, was riding his bike on Long Island when he hit a deer that jumped into his path. He flipped over the bike’s handlebars and ended up having to get surgery.
Lauer will not be doing his annual “Where in the World is Matt Lauer?” gig on the show because a flashy trip “sen[ds] the wrong message” during the recession, says to the Associated Press. Or he’s scared of another deer attack. You decide.
