Miramax Closes Its Doors

pulp fiction 300x195 Miramax Closes Its DoorsAt the age of 31, the shining star of indie movie studios died today.  Formed in 1979 by Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Miramax was the beacon production house for independent films.  Best known for hits such as “Sex, Lies & Videotape”, “Pulp Fiction” and “Shakespeare In Love” the once proud (and quite successful) studio will no longer release films.  Its doors are closed, close to 80 employees are left jobless and several movies awaiting release will be shelved forever.

There are quite a few other indie studios out there getting the job done but Miramax is where it all began.  It comes as no surprise, the studio has been struggling for some time now.  However, it is a sad day to see the once great Miramax fall.  I salute you.
