Palin Cover: Sexist or Sexy

Once again, the former Republican vice-presidential candidate is pissed off.
Making the cover of Newsweek Magazine is a big deal. Having millions of Americans view you as an attractive woman is a big deal. Apparently, Sarah Palin wants none of it. She is calling the cover shot used “out of context” and “sexist”.
Of course one has to remember that this photo was one that Palin was more than happy to take for the August 2009 article in Runners World featuring the former Alaska Governor. She didn’t think the shot was sexist back then.
According to Newsweek editor John Meacham:
“We chose the most interesting image available to us to illustrate the theme of the cover, which is what we always try to do. We apply the same test to photographs of any public figure, male or female: does the image convey what we are saying? That is a gender-neutral standard.”
Heck, it piqued my interest and made me read an article I would have otherwise passed over. To quote Van Wilder:
“Sex sells.”
