Peyton Manning, Passionate or Disrespectful

peyton manning 300x206 Peyton Manning, Passionate or DisrespectfulAfter the New Orleans Saints handed a 31-17 beat down to the Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning rushed off the field without offering a congratulatory handshake to any member of the opposing team.  Was this disrespectful?

Hell no.  Peyton Manning is a competitor and a previous Super Bowl champ.  He knows the deal…winning is everything.  And his team didn’t win.  Post-game is time for the winner to celebrate.  He didn’t waste any time in allowing Drew Brees and his Saints to take over the field in celebration.  This wasn’t a sign of disrespect.  This was good sportsmanship.

After his quick exit Peyton was sure to give credit to the winners in his post-game press conference:

“I certainly know how it was three years ago when we won. There’s not much consolation for the guys who didn’t win. There’s the stage being set up and the celebration. It’s time for the Saints to celebrate. It’s their field.”

It should also be noted that Peyton called Brees later that evening to congratulate him.  Brees publicly noted that Manning is a class-guy.  Nuff said.
