Wheee! Another book people can buy to be told how to be happy! Don’t get me wrong; some books are great. But others, (I’m talking about you, “Eat, Pray, Love,”) are more of a self indulgence than help for others that need it. Welch, wife of former General Electric CEO Jack Welch, has penned her own guide for rich people people to live their lives to the fullest.
“10-10-10: 10 Minutes, 10 Months, 10 Years – A Life-Transforming Idea” Welch’s book on being rich self-improvement. The idea is that you make choices based on the consequences in 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years.
“It’s not simple to create a life of your own making,” said Welch. “It’s the hardest thing we do, parenting, having a job, having relationships and a life. An authentic life is not easy and I think it’s hard to have a candid conversation with yourself. But you have to. 10-10-10 is not a silver bullet. It’s pragmatic but it’s profound. And it requires a value check.”
Or, you can marry an insanely wealthy dude. No offense, lady, but I don’t really think advice from a millionaire is applicable to the rest of us. If you need me, I’ll be reading “The Secret.”
