HR3200 – Read the Bill Yourself

Posted on 12. Aug, 2009 by rubber chicken in Lifestyle, Politics

health care access manual logo HR3200 Read the Bill YourselfYou can believe the outlandish claims by right wing pundits, like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh, who say the health care reform bill (HR 3200) calls for ‘death panels’ and ‘mandatory end-of-life consultations’, or you can actually read the bill yourself and learn the truth.

Yes, it’s long. But it’s not too complicated. There are headings for all the sections and subsections so you can find what you’re looking for easily. Two things you won’t find are ‘death panels’ and ‘mandatory end-of-life consultations’. That anyone would believe the United States or any democratic nation would call for those things is preposterous. (Read HR 3200 sec. 1233 for yourself in the link above.)

Nor is this bill going to socialize health care. I am actually for socialized health care, so I say this somewhat forlornly. We are the only major democracy in the world that does not take care of the health of its citizens. This is a fact. And we are the only major democracy to still use capital punishment. Anti-health care and pro-death penalty – what kind of people does that make us? Sometimes I wonder if we’ll ever move past the Dark Ages.

Here is a short, detailed summary of the bill written by Congressional staffers. Read it. Educate yourself. Don’t believe what other people say (not even me); check the facts yourself. Then make an informed decision based on logic and reason, not distortion and emotionally manipulative lies.

Wow, I don't know what you were reading but pg183-184 states, employers will be charged, what equates to a penalty, 4-8% of their payroll. For most small businesses, that comes to 20-36k, which will put them out of biz. Also pg. 1016 states that any state not complying, will lose federal funding. these are just 2 bad elements out of many. So maybe you need to re-read the document, or have someone explane it to you..
