Snowe First Republican to Vote for Health Care

Maine Senator Olympia Snowe put her conscience before her party today, voting to pass Sen. Baucus’s Senate Finance Committee Health Care Reform Bill. She is the only Republican to vote yes on any of the four health care reform bills.
Snowe said, “Is this bill all that I would want? Is it all that it can be? No. But when history calls, history calls.” After declaring her yes vote with reservations, she added, “My vote today is my vote today. It doesn’t forecast what my vote will be tomorrow.”
That’s okay, Senator. Recovering from Republicanism is tough. Just take it one day at a time.
