sb1 300x187 Susan Boyle Advances to Finals in Britains Got TalentOver seventy million people all over the world have watched Scotland’s Susan Boyle’s inspiring performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” on Britain’s Got Talent. Well this week, the world’s sweetheart returned to the show for the semi-final round, singing “Memory” from Cats. Her resemblance to Grizzabella notwithstanding, she gave another fine performance. But not as good as her first.

Boyle seemed nervous as she began the song and pretty much blew the first note. It was rocky for a while, but when the crowd started cheering, her confidence kicked in. The second half of the song was the Susan Boyle we know and love.

“Memory” may not have been a very good song choice for Boyle. The first two notes are high, delicate, and very important to nail. So if one is battling nerves, it is not the song to go with. Boyle seemed more nervous this time on stage than on her first appearance – probably because there are now so many people with expectations of her. “Memory” did encompass the theme that Boyle seems to be playing up so well; that of a person later in life. examining her past and seeing the potential in her future. So the inspirational feeling was still there to work its magic.
